I deactivated the call forwarding using YouMail and now I finally got Visual Voicemail working on the Google phone app! Power the phone off, pull the SIM card out, then boot the phone back up and after the phone is back on, insert the SIM card back in. That works for me. This "trick" never worked to solve my VVM issue.
